3.1) How can I find departure times for the stations listed in my journey?

Once you have planned a journey, you can click the station name(s) on the ‘Details’ page to see an ‘Information’ page about the station.  The ‘Station information’ page has a ‘Departure board’ link that will link you directly to the Departure board for that station.

3.2) How can I find out what stations my train will be stopping at?

To find out where your train will be stopping during the journey, you can click the word ‘Train’ under the train symbol on the ‘Details’ page (or in the ‘Transport’ column in the table version of the page).  This links to the ‘Service information’ page, which lists all the stations that the train stops at during your journey, as well as the stations that it stops at before and after your journey.

3.3) How can I find information about train operators?

For information on a train operator, click on the train operator’s name on the ‘Details’ page (or in the ‘Instructions’ column in the table version of the page).  This links to a page summarising train operator information including contact details.

3.4) How can I find out what on-board facilities will be available on a train?

Facilities that are available on board a train are shown on the journey ‘Details’ page across from the train journey, or, when you click the word ‘Train’ under the train symbol (or in the ‘Instructions’ column in the table version of the page).

3.5) How can I find out if I need to or can make a reservation in advance on a train?

Some trains allow passengers to reserve seats.  Reservations may either be ‘available’, ‘recommended’, or ‘compulsory’.  Move your cursor over the symbols, which appear on ‘Details’ and ‘Service information’ pages for the type of reservation.

If you would like to contact the train operator, click on the train operator’s name which links to a page containing train operator information including the telephone number.

3.6) How can I find out which classes of travel are available on a train?

There are two types of classes on a train – Standard and First Class.  The ‘Details’ and/or ‘Service information’ pages will show whether First Class is available and if the service is First Class only.

If you would like to contact the train operator, click on the train operator’s name which links to a page summarising train operator information including contact details.

3.7) How can I find out about station accessibility and facilities at railway stations on my journey?

You can view journey details by selecting a journey and clicking ‘Details’.  You can click the station name(s) on the ‘Details’ page to see an ‘Information’ page about the station.  On this page you can find out about station accessibility and facilities.

3.8) How can I get a list of all the direct rail services to a destination (including overtaken services), rather than just the fastest ones?

Use Find a Train or Compare City to City journeys. Our Door to Door Planner only shows the fastest services closest to your specified departure or arrival time.

3.9) How do I plan a journey to or from an underground/light rail station?

Step 1: Click ‘door-to-door journey planner’ in the left hand navigation.

Step 2: If it’s not already selected, select the ‘station/airport’ button.

Step 3: Enter the name of the underground/light rail station you want in the from or to box.

Step 4: Click "Next".

Step 5: Confirm your location.

Once you have clicked ‘Next’, if the Journey Planner is not able to find an exact match for the location you typed in, a drop-down list (highlighted in yellow) will show you one or more similar matches for that location.

Select a location option from the drop-down list. Please note if the location you want is already visible in the yellow box, you do not need to re-select it.
